How to Manage Site Delivery Using Shopify Grow Plan with Navigation to Customer Location

Shopify Grow plan allows end-to-end delivery handling using a dedicated Shopify staff user for delivery. The delivery user receives orders after admin approval, navigates to the customer location using map integration, completes delivery, and updates order status — all from the Shopify backend or mobile app, without custom development.

Step 1: Create a Dedicated Delivery User


  • Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Users and permissions

  • Add a staff user for Delivery

  • Assign permissions:


    • View orders

    • Edit orders

    • Fulfill orders


  • Restrict access to products, payments, settings, and reports


This keeps delivery operations isolated and secure.


Step 2: Order Placement and Super Admin Approval


  • Customer places order on the website

  • Order appears as Unfulfilled

  • Super Admin reviews and accepts the order

  • Once accepted:


    • Order becomes visible to the delivery user

    • Delivery user receives notification via:


      • Shopify Admin

      • Shopify Mobile App (push notification)


Step 3: Delivery User Receives Order Notification


  • Delivery user logs in via:

    • Shopify Admin (desktop)

    • Shopify Mobile App (recommended)


  • Accepted orders appear under Orders → Open

  • Delivery user can view:


    • Customer name

    • Phone number

    • Full delivery address

    • Order items

    • Notes added by admin


Step 4: Navigate to Customer Location (Map Integration)


Shopify automatically converts the customer shipping address into a navigable map link.


How Navigation Works


  • Delivery user opens the order in Shopify Mobile App

  • Taps the customer address

  • Shopify opens:

    • Google Maps (Android)

    • Apple Maps (iOS)

  • Turn-by-turn navigation starts instantly


No third-party app or manual address copy is required.


Step 5: Delivery Execution


  • Delivery user follows navigation to customer location

  • Contacts customer if required using phone link inside order

  • Hands over the order

  • Confirms successful delivery


Optional:


  • Add delivery confirmation note

  • Add remarks like “Delivered to security” or “Handed over personally”


Step 6: Update Order Status as Delivered


After delivery:


  • Delivery user opens the same order

  • Marks order as Fulfilled

  • Adds delivery confirmation note (optional but recommended)


This update is reflected instantly in Shopify Admin.


Step 7: Order Completion and Visibility


  • Once marked fulfilled:


    • Order moves to Completed / Fulfilled

    • Super Admin receives update


  • Delivery user can view:


    • Active deliveries

    • Completed deliveries

    • Order history




Filtering options:


  • Fulfillment status = Fulfilled

  • Date range

  • Optional order tags (delivery staff name)


Step 8: Tracking “My Orders” for Delivery Staff


Shopify Grow does not enforce ownership, but practical tracking is possible.


Recommended approach:


  • Admin adds delivery staff name as an order tag

  • Delivery user filters orders using that tag

  • Delivery user sees only assigned and completed orders


Works fully within Shopify backend.


Notifications at Each Stage


  • Order accepted → Delivery user notified

  • Order updated → Admin notified

  • Order fulfilled → Admin + internal logs updated


All notifications handled via Shopify settings and mobile app.


Best Practices for Delivery Management


  • Use individual staff logins, not shared access

  • Always add delivery confirmation notes

  • Use Shopify mobile app for navigation and updates

  • Use order tags for delivery accountability

  • Review completed deliveries daily


Limitations to Note


  • No native delivery assignment per user

  • No route optimization

  • No commission or attendance tracking


These can be added later using apps or custom development if required.
